WHY DO YOU NEED AN IMPLANT?
WHAT TO DO AFTER A TOOTH EXTRACTION?
- You cannot either eat or drink for 2 hours
- In order to alleviate the pain and to reduce the swelling, you can apply cold compresses to the cheek.
- You cannot rinse your mouth, you should not brush teeth near the place of extraction because the clot in the socket is the only wound dressing. If it is rinsed, the so called dry socket might appear – this is a local inflammation of the alveolar bone which occurs as a postoperative complication of tooth extraction. Its symptoms are: a throbbing pain, fever and general weakness. The symptoms appear 2-3 days after the extraction.
- For 2 days you should avoid hot dishes and drinks, replacing them by cold ones. You must not bite with this side. You should avoid smoking and drinking alcohol. You also have to limit physical exercise.
- If it is necessary, you may take pain killers available at a pharmacy without a prescription, except aspirin (which dilutes the blood).
- If after 2-3 days a sharp pain or fever appears, you have to contact your dentist immediately.
WHAT SHOULD BE DONE IF YOU NEED AN IMPLANT?
- Make an appointment with your dentist: make a panoramic X-ray and/or CT, which will enable adjusting and planning of your personal treatment.
- Placing the implant.
- The healing period is 3-6 months.
- Implant uncovering and restoration of the dental crown.
In some cases the tooth can be restored immediately after the implant has been placed. This treatment is called immediate loading of dental implants.
WHEN IS IT WORTH THINKING ABOUT AN IMPLANT PLACEMENT?
- 1. If you lack one tooth.
- 2. If you lack several teeth.
- 3. If you do not have your own teeth.
- If you lack one tooth.
Placement of an implant with a dental crown will help eliminate the necessity to bore or damage the adjacent teeth. Thanks to this it is possible to avoid the necessity to place a crown on more than one tooth. Implant restoration. Dental bridge restoration.
- If you lack several teeth.
Thanks to implants there is no need to use dental prostheses which can damage the gum causing bone reduction and have 40% of natural ability to chew. Restoration with the use of several implants. Restoration with the help of a dental prosthesis
- If you do not have your own teeth.
Implants will help in fixing a dental prosthesis. It is known that dental prostheses are not the best substitution of natural teeth. Prostheses can wobble causing irritation of the gum, bone reduction, decreased ability to chew and general discomfort. Placement of 2-4 implants can easily eliminate these problems and make the patient smile more confidently. Steady fixation of the prosthesis on the implants. Several implants with crowns. They give a feeling of natural teeth. Full arc reconstruction on implants.
